Opening a New Era of Smart Wearable Devices – Miniaturization of Microphone Heads

With the rise of the smart wearable device industry such as sports wristbands and Bluetooth earphones, in order to provide users with a better experience, R&D personnel have spent a lot of time on sensor miniaturization technology, which has led to the breakthrough of MEMS technology today. It is the cornerstone of miniaturization and has promoted the development of the industry.

Especially the innovation of microphone heads, which is based on the integrated design of MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology, has achieved world-class breakthroughs in health monitoring, voice interaction, environmental perception and other aspects.

Traditional microphones are difficult to adapt to increasingly thin and lightweight smart wearable devices in terms of size and power consumption. MEMS technology, through the integration of silicon-based microelectronics and micromechanical processing, is now known as silicon microphone.

Silicon microphones are not only small in size, but also have the characteristics of low power consumption and high sensitivity. For example, the second-generation MEMS integrated microphone head launched by Da Micro Semiconductor has significantly reduced its size, and also has functions such as temperature protection and oil leakage detection, which have improved reliability and consistency to a certain extent.

The breakthrough of MEMS technology enables the microphone head to be perfectly embedded in smart watch straps and wireless headphone cavities, saving more space for device design and giving designers greater freedom.
